warp core breech

Post by Abelard »

I've looked all over the internet for the drink recipe, and I can't find it!

With that classic eq server coming out, I've been thinking about EQ a bit lately. Anyway, the other day I remembered the fanfaire 1 pics and all the stories about drunken warp core breechosity. Anyone here have the recipe, or know a website I could get it from? I think it would be a wicked party drink.

I have no idea how to make a Warp Core (except for the dry ice part) but felt the need to post!

From another Warp Core thread:

Step one: Order some Warp Cores

Image

Step two: Down them fast

Step three: pose for picture!

It's time to hit Quark's Bar again. I think I'll be in Las Vegas in January unless I head to San Diego. Maybe then!

How to Replicate a Warp Core Breach

Combine 1/2 pint Bacardi Select, 1/2 pint Bacardi Dark,
1/2 pint Bacardi 151, 1/2 pint Bacardi Limon, 1/2 pint Captain Morgan
(because they don't make Bacardi Spice any more) and 1/3 pint Razzamatazz
raspberry liqueur. Mix well.

Add 1 part mix to 3-4 parts Sobe Power, add ice and dry ice, and enjoy.
CAUTION: Drink with a straw ONLY, unless you like frozen lips.

ServingForOne = (WCB)/4
--------------------------------------------------
WARP CORE BREACH (FOR TWO) (This recipe is supposedly direct from Quark's)

Sensors indicate a blend of
Light rum, Bacardi Select, Captain Morgan, Bacardi
Limon, Fris Vodka, Blue Curacao, Bacardi 151,
cranberry, pineapple, Ruby Red Grapefruit, guava,
orange juice, sour mix, and grenadine. We add
pure (dry) ice crystals from the planet Exo III. You'll need
more than one officer to handle this situation.

No idea which is corrrect, but here are the 2 I found.

Good times! : ) I then had a couple shots with Py and don't remember much afterwards for that night. Quarks was more fun than the night club place anyway IMO! One of the main steps is if its accepted into the main dictionaries like Oxford, but there are others.

You have to remember that the 'warpcore' has no actual basis in the physical world, or any real cultural significance (outside sci fi), or any actual science - or anything past star trek 'lore' behind it. So I mean, if warpcore is put in, than I want autobot to be entered into dictionaries everywhere, along with every crazy item from all Marvel comics, I also want every spell from the EQ database entered. I otherwise consider 'warpcore' slang at best.

You seem to be getting a little defensive over your star trek, eh?

Warp Core Breach

Every part of that phrase is a real word in the english language. While the actual device may not exist, pay attention to the following definitions on the above links:

warp - "threads running lengthwise in a fabric," O.E. wearp-, from P.Gmc. *warpo- (cf. M.L.G. warp, O.H.G. warf "warp," O.N. varp "cast of a net"), from root *werp- (see warp (v.)). The warp of fabric is that across which the woof is "thrown." Applied in 20c. astrophysics to the "fabric" of space-time, popularized in noun phrase warp speed by 1960s TV series "Star Trek."

core - "region in a reactor that contains its [fissionable material]"

breach - "break or rupture"

Sorry, I'm not a Star Trek Nerd, I'm an English Nerd!

'warpcore' isn't a word to begin with. So I suppose you can argue that 'warp core' doesn't match up with the slang, but then I can also say that since there are listings on the web for 'warp core' that its just a variation of the slang. Like kool is to cool. Also, since you're arguing that each seperate english entity matches up, than that means I spelled it correctly. :D So yes, the description of the machine may match, but 'warpcore' as a word, which I think was part of noel's argument doesn't match up.

(Sorry if that doesn't match up completely with your post sylvus, I just skimmed it really quickly, I'm also working a project atm.)

I really don't want to argue about the correct spelling of star trek lore anymore. This makes me feel like I've reached the pinnacle of nerdosity.

No comment on the pants drink besides I admittely e'd when I should of a'd, and I made the post at 3 am after studying for a few hours.

It's not even fucking slang you moron. Slang is INFORMAL and typically used in speech instead of writing. It's also typically restricted to a particular context or group of people. Feel free to base your incoming semantic argument on the sentence prior to this one.

A 'Warp Core' refers to not slang, but an idea created by an author and made popular by the proliferation of Star Trek in it's various pop-culture forms. A 'Warp Core' is essentially the Star Trek fiction version of a nuclear reactor. Can you understand what a 'Nuclear reactor breach' would represent? Does that help you understand why a 'Nuclear reactor breech' DOESN'T MAKE ANY FUCKING SENSE?

'Warp Core' has fuck all to do with my argument. Breech and Breach are HOMONYMS and YOU used the wrong fucking word. Why don't you edit the leading post and fix your fucking spelling error and stop fucking whining.

While slang is heavily made up of informal speech/writing; what it is exactly is any word/language peculiar to a group of people, which is a category 'warpcore' can fit into. Though its a bit irrelevent since you've admittedly based your bait and flame on the spelling of breech/breach.

As for the error, no. I think I'm going to leave it and watch you spaz out more. You're funny!

Way to make a totally irrelevant argument.

The funny thing is, when someone corrects me, I thank them for it. I don't like to put my name on anything that's incorrect. But then... you're probably used to being wrong. Does anyone actually use the urban dictionary for ANYthing? I always thought it was there so that parents that were never involved in their child's life would have a place to go to learn what their kids "really" meant. Half of the shit on there doesn't mean anything close to what it is generally used as. I think I can remember a couple things coming up here where someone in the northeast used a term in one way, where someone on the west coast had never heard of it being used in that manner.

Still bothering you?

You can quote all the fucking slang dictionaries in the world and it still won't make it slang. Can someone with a greater knowledge of the English language than I please define what part of speech the term 'Warp Core' would fall into? I know it's not slang, but I'm not sure what it would actually be.

Here are some links for you, loser.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warp_core_breach
http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Warp_core

Edit: I'm not even arguing if it is or isn't slang. I'm simply arguing that you don't know the difference between breech and breach and that the drink is spelled (appropriately) with the word 'b-r-e-a-c-h'. Of course, you don't have to take my word for it. YOU COULD SIMPLY LOOK AT THE FUCKING MENU (and what an awesome menu it is too!)

Edit2: Goddamn, did we really pay $29.50 for each of those?!?!?!

I haven't argued at all about breach.

Notice the original post was made at 3 am. I really have no problem with you correcting me on the word, but I didn't like the attitude in your post.

Warp Core is my only gripe in this thread, and I will see it establishe as slang!

Calling me a loser? Lol. You trolled this thread over a spelling mistake. A star trek spelling mistake no less.

Because of your bias [toward me], the 'attitude of my [initial] post' was incorrectly inferred on your part. If I just wanted to be an ass, I wouldn't have wasted time with the visual aids. Of course afterward when you started to vomit on the thread, all bets are off and you lose.
