Pity it's not out yet.

Also, the progression thing they intend to do, involving RoK and Velious, will ruin it just like it ruined the Combine/Progression server thingy's.

A real old world, pre expansion EQ server that VV members all played on would be pretty sweet though :)

I don't think I could ever go back to playing like that again. I remember installing the eq1 trial zone about a year ago and the interface/movement/camera was just too much for me. It's not like riding a bike!

Haha, classic EQ was so exciting (as far as computer games go). I remember my first character was a high elf paladin named Trident. My computer screen sucked, and I didn't know about changing the gamma. So my sight was like a humans. Anyway, I ended up wandering into butcherblock at level 5 and ending up at the chessboard. I see this small little dwarf fighting a HUGE skeleton (remember my vision sucked so this came out of no where). My legs were shaking, and this dwarf was about to die, which meant certain death for me. I LoH'd him and he showed me the way to orc hill.

So intense.

I'm sure I will have an account on this. I played the progression server on live, and got a necro up to 52 by mid velious but all of the changes to the way fighting and spells work plus the overpowered items and shit they didn't remove ruined it for me. This seems like it would be a lot of fun, and if they stop in Velious it will be amazing. I just wonder what will happen when everyone maxes out in Velious? Maybe they can make their own player made expansion, or just a few more zones for higher levels, because if anyone has tried SOD before you know the potential there is in player made content using pre-existing zones to start with.

Meh, I think the content stuff will be a pain with just the original out for the first bit, but by the time they release Kunark there will be more than enough content to keep everyone busy. Planes + VP + Dragons + Karnors + The Hole etc. lots of stuff!

I'm gonna give it a shot. Been reading posts / posting. Unfortunately I won't have near enough time to play as I used to (And I never had that much time to play to begin with) and with it being old school hell levels and slow xp gain I'm not sure how long I'll be able to stick it around. If Veeshan Vault gets off the ground then I'm definitely in. I've never experienced a EMU server before.

Aye Kald. I played it a lot actually. It isn't at all like EQ though. They changed everything. I want the original EQ with a new graphics engine. I think it would be really good if they made it possible to solo as well. EQ and EQ2 suck for soloing. EQ2 even put in a bunch of solo stuff, but it blows. Soloing takes forever and the exps suck.

Errr, soloing in EQ2 seems retardedly easy, at least at 31. Well, not as retarded as wow, but it is pretty fucking easy and all ya need to do to keep my fucking attention is drop a goddamn chest every now and again. I guess EQ2 is more like WoW, with better gfx, more buttons and slightly more skill (yet, with more content that is slightly less repetitive).

I soloed my wizard to 30 in about 2 weeks, then deleted him and started a new one on my own account and took him to 68 in less than 6 months, almost exclusively solo. So, yeah, soloing takes forever, compared to making macaroni and cheese. (I could have been 70 in maybe 3 months if I had never been side tracked by all the junk in the game... Trade skills, AA, exploring etc)

they've decided to ban 2-boxing.

i'll probably still play it, but that shit's going to bite them in the ass eventually. They say the game is social and 2-boxing would kill it - and they have this weird idea that every zone will always be populated 24/7 like live servers. If no one was on, I was told to "do tradeskills, or level an alt." One of their dickwad devs overreacted and banned me for having an opinion (and of all ways to say it, I was actually non-hostile for once).

newsflash, emu servers have terrible populations, regardless of how many people are interested. It's hilarious how strict they are regarding what will be in the game, when, etc., but absolutely detest the idea of 2-boxing - almost considering it nonexistent on the real servers, claiming it will kill their game. (Note: Sony is about to release the 14th expansion. What a dead game-)

The guy who's in charge of PEQ, prior to this, asked me to host and make a wiki, which to community had been pouring plenty of info into over the past few days. I killed it, and he said he didn't blame me. Revenge is a bitch.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the no 2 boxing decision. At least not in the beginning. They aren't SOE so they don't have that sort of server farm it could potentially require. If it ends up pretty deserted and they are able to run fine with the curent population then yeah go ahead and open it to 2-boxing.

I can understand their preference to eliminate 2-boxing at the beginning - but they are looking to never have it, which to me is a terrible mistake.

When they release, their population will be fine - but after a week, it will drop big time. Some are going to continue playing - some won't go beyond a few days, and many will play 5-10 minutes and stop there. That population will run steady for about a month, and then there will be a second big drop in population. If they don't figure out some kind of solution to get more people to play, boxing will be their only choice, and even then, the devs seem to be so fucking sure of themselves, I don't know if they'd allow it.

On top of that, this assumes they have good uptime and no major server issues - the things emu servers are known for.

The worst part is, I'd probably be banned permanently on their forums for posting the above there.

We would like to inform you all that PEQuest has been discontinued. In its place is a new project with a sharper focus and a stronger drive to deliver the Classic EverQuest experience to a community that deserves and craves it. The new project's site will be launched soon and will not include any of the drama/forum trolling associated with PEQuest. Thank you all for your continued support and stay tuned or come share in the discussion on our new IRC channel.

Haha yeah, there wasn't really any reason for this dramafest in the first place. They all just suck at working together I guess. Lack of communication and all that.

Anyway, I'm not going to pay anymore attention to this server for the next few months. I'll see where its going maybe December or January.

there was a reason for it to happen.... what was going on in the sidelines? There was actually like.. 10 + people considered devs.. when truth be told there was a Core group actually doing something of 5 people. So they decided to lay down the line as crap was getting out of hand. TCS was barely there... he got the chop. Then there were other people that dont to ANYTHING that were chopped. thats it... that was all that happened. they just got rid of people that didn't do anything.

Also-- can someone post the new IRC Server? it's irc.SAP-something i believe?
