I've gotten pm's from 5 different people who aren't even friendly with each other asking me to ban you in the last week. That's about 4 more than I usually get in any given week. Pretty much the only rules we have include "don't be a troll" and "don't make fun of rl pictures", and 99% (or more) of your posts are at least one of those things. I haven't banned you yet because it's just going to end up being a pain in my ass when people start bitching about being oppressed, but now it's getting to be a pain in my ass not banning you.

I never saw a picture of Dregor posted, so I never knew he was making fun of a pic of him in RL. I would be interested in knowing who called him on trolling threads as well. I would guess that a couple of them are people who tend to troll as well. They may have even been people who made fun of Kylere's real appearance (before he made the drastic changes ).While some of his posts may have been annoying, ignoring him never meant you missed something potentially useful.

I think a good point to make here is that you could easily get five votes to ban me, kyoukan or someone else but when it's put to a poll, you'll always get a majority of the people voting not to ban.

Track down the thread where someone posted a poll on whether or not to ban me. It didn't turn out too well although I'm sure at least five people hated me!

FYI only one person here commented on Kylere's weight and that was Kyoukan...like four fucking years ago.... Get over it. I've never made fun of his appearance and I was one of ones who complained. He violated the RULES of the board on a DAILY basis. And as Aslanna said, he asked to be banned, so he made the decision to act like a 14 year old girl and throw a hissy rather than follow the rules.

I was going to say earlier to let kylere make the call since he was the only other one to be "picture" attacked for appearance besides one other person which I'll get to later on in my post.

First, right or wrong, kylere used the negative comments made towards him as part of a catalyst for positive change. It's worth mentioning here that there's nothing wrong with someone who doesn't want to change either. It's their own life. but still, it ultimately was a positive thing.

Nick whines about about everything that doesn't have a peace symbol painted on the side of it so his PM complaint doesn't count. It's in his nature to protest and he was probably under the influence of a mind altering drug anyway. Ruling out Nick's PM, I'm betting the group of PMs received is a little more cliquish in composition. BTW, I don't have anything against Dregor either and the only fat thing I didn't like about him was his avatar screwing up margins back in the day! I met him at FF so I'm not talking out of my ass.

Something like this is best ruled upon by a peer and in this case, that's kylere since the same thing happened to him. His attacker, Shaerra, continued on to be a productive member of the board for several years, getting in multiple trek flames and producing quality haikus. Me, being a sci fi and comic book geek among other things (non of them having anything to do with being a pedo which people seem resort to right before quoting Hitler in the desperation flame attack category), was able to live in harmony with her on this board and, importantly, compartmentalize her likes and dislikes. It's worth mentioning that she was flamed in return for her appearance and managed not to cry about it and kept on swinging away on this board. For those that attacked her, an "eye for an eye" doesn't make it any more just. You did the same thing Cart got banned for.

A better example on this board would be religion. Normally religious wackos eventually lose their grip at the onslaught of logic bombs thrown their way by agnostics and atheists but that hasn't stopped Marbus and Adex from remaining active on the board and dealing with each topic by itself without taking into account beliefs. It's also commendable that they don't try and spread the word of god and get all freaky on the board. They focus their religious comments to religious threads the same as the agnostics and atheists do here and leave them there.

I think a change is in order. For the rare multiple personal attacks, timeout bans should be used but the only bannable offense should be blatant spamming of the board. I'm talking retarted shit, like ten posts in a row by the same poster (i'm not talking about my Suns thread!) that are directly trying to disrupt it without at least getting in a good flame. Weak one-liner retorts are acceptable or kyoukan would be banned for life so you can't go after Cart for those. The power cliqiè seems to side with kyoukan and has made her some sort of martyr for stupidity so she gets away with more than most and the people that have issues with her happen to fall outside that special group of fraternal weaksauce so nothing would ever be done anyway...and it shouldn't be. I understand the need for at least a tiny sense of order here because this still remains a place for old friends to socialize and that's rare these days. ...and don't tell me MySpace can do that. There's a lot of great info shared on this board in a wide variety of categories. The bulk of the flames stay in current and general topics for the most part with some longstanding battles that take place in other forums but they don't come close to overrunning those forums.

I think Cart had the well being of VV in mind when he did this, trying to point out that a small change was needed on VV and that sometimes, people might even want a time-out and fire off a flame that gives them time to go enjoy a vacation and come back refreshed. Cart sacrificed himself in the hope that it would help the board see the light...now he needs resurrecting much like Jesus did...if you love Jesus, you know what the right decision is here...and if you don't love Jesus, then you should be wise enough to do the right thing anyway!

I say, put permanent bannings to a vote and give mods "special" power to enact time-out bans (a progressive 7 day, 30 day, 90 day, three strikes type setup) without need for discussion as long as the offense is made clear.

I'm sure the cliquè has some seekrit forum or other place to give each other Jack Handy hugs and support so that's not needed here. Lets keep the legacy of VV in tact!

I told him to stop continuously violating the rules or he would be banned. He said "then ban me you fucking pussy". I complied. This board is 4 or 5 years old, you know how many people with more than 10 posts have been perma-banned? One, cartalas. And he asked me to do it.

Sylvus has some of the best flame skills on the board and can defend himself with ease. I have no doubt about that. A three strike time-ban policy is fair enough. 7 day, 30, and 90. It's not going to hurt anyone to give some chances.
