Re: Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Agreed! I have worked from home for 4 or 5 years now, so the impact on me has been relatively low. I've been saying the same thing though, I think one of the positives to come out of the other end of this is going to be forcing the conversation of working from home.

Re: FFXIV Beta (The BEST FFXIV Thread)
I broke down and started back up to play through the Shadowbringers expansion, since I didn't have much else I was interested in playing. I'm glad I did - this game just keeps getting better! The story is really good - but fuck is it dark. I'm not quite done with the story - I have one dungeon/trial...

Finished this! I did every side quest and wanted to go for the platinum, but there is a multiple playthrough trophy so I gave up that idea. Playing through Dragon Quest XI next, I think I'll make the platinum push on that one.

I'm about in the same spot, 2-3 more episodes left to watch. Geralt meeting up with Ciri is and her story moving forward from there is where I think the story will go eventually, until then it's just kinda a series of stories about Geralt to establish what a Witcher is, so a lot of it is not necessa...

With Amazon in particular, it's also more than just them simply running smaller vendors out of business. They treat their workers like trash (they have a big distribution center near me where there are regularly strikes), to the point that I don't even know how sustainable their carrier network is; ...

Yeah, I need to get a new router. My online shopping is less about security and more about not wanting to contribute to Amazon running other vendors out of business, and not wanting to give them more info on me (shopping habits, etc). I shop at Whole Foods, and even when I did still have Prime I did...

I buy digitally but streaming also doesn't interest me. Avoiding game downloads isn't even a concern for me as I have about 250 up/down speeds. I'm also becoming a lot less trusting of the internet - I don't use any social media, I don't really use cell phone apps, I have my phone pretty locked down...

I liked it a lot too, but I really don't like "leave it to your imagination" cliffhanger endings on something they have no intention of picking back up. The whole time she was lowering her foot down to the pool I was saying "it's going to fucking fade to black before she touches it an...

I'll absolutely pick one up. I love the Xbox Elite controller, and have wanted buttons/paddles on the back for the PS4, and I just haven't been able to get myself to dish out the money for a Scuf controller when it seems like they are nowhere near the build quality of an Elite controller and don't l...

I don't know, I'm not basing this on any actual numbers I've seen, but I think the potential of Game Pass-like services is being grossly overstated (not just by you). I would posit a couple of things: 1 - Game Pass itself isn't going to move any significant number of consoles. The majority of people...

Nothing sticks out to me as bad about the console, but I've already decided I'm not buying an Xbox next gen. They do suck at naming though - they really should have just stuck with Xbox 1, 2, etc. There is a lot I don't like about their UI design, and they don't have enough games that interest me to...

It uses the Decima engine, same as in Horizon Zero Dawn (but probably updated in the past 5 years), so that helps it look good. I haven't played since shortly before the new expansion, and honestly I don't plan to go back to it anytime soon either. The grind just isn't for me anymore, and the season format makes it worse because they do their best to instill FOMO because you can't get the shit once the season is over.

I think I'm done with this game, but we'll see if I end up changing my mind. Way too many things I don't like about it, and I think in general I've just come to the realization that I'm mostly over games where much of the value is in infinitely grinding for better shit.
