I'd rather see a wind gauge than some dude or lady getting blown around providing zero added information, "It's really windy! Look at me!". It's like a right of passage for reporters to look stupid standing out in a hurricane. When I see it, I don't think, "brave", I think, "idiot". I want one to get seriously injured so we can refer back to it anytime a reporter gets injured standing out in a story just so we can see their rain outfit flap in the breeze.
The reporter I'd promote or respect is the one that films looking outside a window saying "There's no way I'm going out there" Anytime I see an actual reporter on screen it seems like it's more about that reporter getting screen time than the story.
On a side note, CNN blows.
