Local archiving of websites
Local archiving of websites
Anyone using any programs to create a local mirror of a website? If so any recommendations? I tried WinHTTrack and it doesn't seem to get everything but that could be because I don't know how to set up the options. There are a few EQ information sites that are probably going away so I want to create a local archive so that I can still access that information. It's not message board stuff just plain ole html pages if that matters.

Re: Local archiving of websites
There was a thread here years ago and I think Winnow might have posted something like 'httpdtrack' or 'httptrack' or something. I used to keep it (was a single executable file) but lost track of it a long time ago due to lack of use. Try searching this forum I guess. I liked the one I'm thinking of and it seemed to grab everything.
Nevermind.. quick search on what I was thinking of:
http://www.httrack.com/
http://download.httrack.com/cserv.php3?File=httrack.exe
Haven't used it in years, and web design has changed a lot but there ya go.
(I assume this is not the same program you were using since I don't see "WIN"httrack)

From the bottom of that page:
So yeah already tried that. It seems a bit complicated and I wasn't able to get it working properly.WinHTTrack is the Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Seven release of HTTrack, and WebHTTrack the Linux/Unix/BSD release

Re: Local archiving of websites
I don't have anything that rips an entire site, just the images. You can't really do full site rips anymore with all the scripting and server side stuff. I suppose if the the site was simple enough you could use HTTrack but you probably still need to tinker with the settings a bit.
Someone should rip VeeshanVault before it completely crashes.
