Cardinals 4-0, (11-2 their last 13 games)

Still haven't allowed a 100 yard rusher in past 12 games but gave up a rushing TD and the QB went wild for 431 yards passing.

Need Darnell Dockett back in the lineup asap. Kolb is making better decisions and putt up 324 yards and 3 TDs today. He still needs to get better (or the line needs to give him enough time) at throwing the deep ball.

All three 3-0 teams went to 4-0. Cardinals and Falcons games went down to the wire while Houston cruised.

Had to add this:

Cardinals as a team were established in 1898 in Chicago.

They were a charter member of the NFL in 1920.

The Cardinals have never started a season 4-0 before this season. They've sucked for a long time. At least recently they've been to the Super Bowl and had a few playoff runs.

Arizona must have some team chemistry working this year because their offense is still bad. (28 yards rushing yesterday)

Was nice to see Denver get a solid all-around effort at home against Oakland. No punts, and the biggest margin of victory for Denver over Oakland since 1962! :)

Next week's game at NE should be a good one to watch. They'll need to get after Brady like they did Palmer or it will be a nasty reminder of how Denver's defense still has mismatches against good TEs... will find out soon enough.

I'm all for Breast Cancer Awareness in the NFL but one month is way to much time to be wearing pink. That's 25% of the regular season that NFL teams wear pink.

I think one week is plenty and actually more effective than spamming pink for a month. I say give other cancers a week as well to spread out the benefits of awareness.

week 1: Breast Cancer - Color: Pink
week 2: Testicular Cancer - Color: Blue
week 3: Prostate Cancer - Color: Brown
week 4: Free for all - Mix and match colors...or...just wear your regular uniform

Hah! That'd only be fair. I'd be for that if I wasn't such a fan of boobs.

Worst NFL game i've seen in a long time. OL for Arizona is scary bad.

Powerful statement considering you are a AZ sports fan. So many bad games to choose from....

But seriously, everyone except you saw this comming. AZ fell victim to what they had been to everyone else this season, a trap game. Put a smart hard nosed coach with a team that has nothing to lose and they are not going to overlook you like the Pats did. Unfortunately, now that your O Line has more or less been fully exposed, its going to be a lot more of the same until they somehow fix it. That is to say, double Fitz and blitz every down, because the Cards cannot block anyone and cannot reliably pass to anyone outside of Fitz. Kolb is a walking contract incentive for Defensive linemen right now. The good news is that people might overlook AZ again and come unprepared, which is something I consider San Fran likely to do.

Watching this season I think the conclusion that defenses are comming to is that they may as well all out blitz and just deck the opposing QB any time the opportunity presents itself. The way that WRs and QBs are protected in the rules at the moment its really hard to stop them using conventional techniques, so fuck it and rush and hope you break the QBs will (or his leg). The Saints/Pack Game was a pretty good illustration of this. They more or less gave up trying to cover and when they got a guy on Rogers he just poked him in the fucking eye, fairly deliberately too. And why not? Rogers had to come out of the game and the backup QB turned the ball over and suddenly the Saints were back in the game after being out of it all day.

I have seen that kind of dirty shit going on a lot this season and it may be a product of having scab refs, as well. The dirty truth is that it is easier to just eat a 15 yard penalty and fine to gimp the opposing offense than it is to legitimately cover. Teams like the Raiders and Steelers have been doing shit like that for a while, but its getting to be a lot more wide spread.

And that's why we need the real refs. Gooddell is very quickly approaching Bud Selig levels of ineffectuality. Unless he stops being the owners' little bitch-ass minion and starts looking after the game, AND SOON, football might wind up being a worthless shitfest like baseball.

They got the real refs back last Thursday!

Kolb was sacked 8 times vs Miami and 9 times against the Rams. He was rushed or hit a bazillion other times and I didn't really see a single play where he had time to throw the ball.

Ryan Williams had 30 yards rushing and then proceeded to get tackled for a loss FOUR times in a row, knocking him back down to 20 yards rushing.

Besides giving up the big play on the Rams first possession, the defense played well with a less than 100% Darnell Dockett. There's no easy way to fix an Offensive Line. Levi Brown was a huge loss. Even if he wasn't a great lineman, he was leagues better than what's out there now. Last year the Lions went 4-0 and then 6-6 the rest of the year. The Cardinals would be lucky to manage that. They could end up 6-10 unless they find some miracle fix for the OL. It looked so bad against the Rams that I don't see how they could win another game. Right now, it will be all short screens and trick plays to get any yardage.

But yeah, that really was the worst Cardinals game I've ever seen on Thursday and I've seen every game since 1987 when they game to Phoenix.

Nice. Is there another division that even comes close right now from top to bottom?

I think there is more parity in the NFC West, but the NFC South and AFC North are stronger divisions overall. The next couple weeks of their respective schedules should answer a lot on that front.
