SAO PAULO – A Brazilian court ruled this week that McDonald's must pay a former franchise manager $17,500 because he gained 65 pounds (30 kilograms) while working there for a dozen years.
The 32-year-old man said he felt forced to sample the food each day to ensure quality standards remained high, because McDonald's hired "mystery clients" to randomly visit restaurants and report on the food, service and cleanliness.
Over/under how many others try and follow in this guys footsteps?
Where I live there's literally no other options. It's been the only fast-food restaurant on the island I live on since I was a kid. After it was built the city past ordinances against any future chain-restaurants. Some of their items are pretty good...or at least less gross than others.

How much do you want to bet the McDonalds franchisee paid someone handsomely for that deal?

I hadn't had McDonald's in years until this summer when I was in Japan. Their burgers there are fucking delicious, granted that isn't limited to McDonald's - but actually any burger I had there. I don't know what Zaelath is doing to the cows down under to make them so delicious, but he needs to share the infoz!
Oddly enough my first meal in Japan when I was in the service was McDonalds. It was located right next to the KFC. Ofcourse back then the yen rate was 265. Damn good times back then.
I was an E-6 my only time in Japan, we spent Christmas '94 working in Sasebo\Yokuska. About the only thing affordable was seafood\eggs\noodles.
Hong Kong, Singapore, Phuket, Bali, Bahrain, Dubai, etc.. are all much cooler and exponentially cheaper. Probably not Dubai any more, I hear it's turned into a nasty hole.

Yokosuka, specifically the honch, rocks! I just applied for a handful of jobs with the Navy on the base there
I didn't find Japan unaffordable, however the Yen rate was down from last year. Last year I think it was like 130Y to the dollar, this year it was like 85Y to the dollar.
