New machine for ~$1000

Post by Dregor Thule »

So I'm looking to maybe put together a new machine for around a thousand bucks, but I realized I know absolutely nothing about buying computer parts nowadays. It's been forever since I've had to try and piece together a new machine, so I was hoping for some thoughts. What are some good bang-for-your-buck items out there? Stuff to avoid? Don't need a monitor or anything, just looking to make a new box.

http://techreport.com/articles.x/17787/4 is a good starting point.

Another good list of suggestions here: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showth ... t369821733

That's a great couple links there Drolgin, thanks. Funny reading the SomethingAwful one, it lists newegg as a recommended vendor in the states, but not newegg.ca for canada, hmm!
