Fantasy Football "Experts"

Ok explain to me the rational on not choosing a Qb until the 3rd or 4th round. Here are the totals for the top 25 in our league. All experts say to chose a quarterback later in the draft. Some say as late as round 5 or 6.

If the point is that they all are pretty close to the same with the exception of 1 or 2 players then I will have to disagree, since most running backs are in the same Category.

Tony Romo killed me 2 times this year. Tom Brady is the reason Shop S-Mart should win the league, even with average players at several other positions. Next year I am going with a new strategy. A good quarterback can pick up points faster then any position. I am willing to take a couple losses due to a bad game or two if the guy can get me 35-50+ points a game. Am I missing something here?

I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. In years past, RB have been the make or break position in FF. That is very much not the case this year as there are NO dominant backs (now that peterson is out). Lots of high scoring games this year coming almost exclusively from passes makes for huge QB values in FF. I'd put WR over RB personally this year. I either use them to compliment my QB, or to help cut down my opponents QB.

Maybe it is just our scoring system, but qb seems to be the most important point total.

There is a lot of thinking also that with so many teams going to two-back systems that it is diluting the RBs in fantasy.
I have seen a lot of experts saying that the top tier QBs will be "worth" 1st round picks next year. They were pointing to QBs like Brady, Peyton, Romo, and Palmer. Heck even Brees has come on of late now that NO seems to have their offense on track.

I believe the point (in years past) is that outside of the premiere QB in the league, which was generally Payton, there was a much lower differential between the #2 and, say, #18 QB. Whereas the dropoff in production between the #2 and #18 RB was much greater. Add in the fact that in most leagues you can play 2 RBs in a game and only one QB, and conventional wisdom says to spend your first picks on RB, since the chances are greater that there will still be a decent QB available in the third round that you can start every week.

This year I picked up Tony Romo in my league in the 9th round (103rd pick overall). After his colossal screwup in the playoff game last year, I don't think he was projected by many people to be the 2nd overall QB right now. How many people in the world would have drafted him over Marc Bulger or Drew Brees, or a number of other QBs?

I'll still probably go with a running back in the 1st round next year. I might hold off on taking another in the 2nd, but that strategy has held up for me pretty well this season; I'm 8-3 and #1 in a pretty competitive 12 team league right now.
