Yes, I paint metal warhammer figures. Yes I killed a ton of monsters to get to level 60 and grinded AA. I did not, however, do anything in the game that I would be ashamed of describing any or all of my activities to friends and family members. I also didn't spend hours of time working the XML UI so I could see pixelated sex0r on the screen. If I am critical of the game, its because I am fairly certain that the bulk of the people drawn into this sort of thing are bored housewives and emo manginas.

Is the engine cool and open ended? Absolutely. If they cracked down on all teh cyb0r, then they would have what would be the next generation MUSH and probably the next step in the evolution towards a virtual environment. Turning the unwashed masses loose with no free reign, however, leads to Furries giving wannabe vampires cleaveland steamers. Its also the exact sort of thing that is going to call down the thunder from the Hillary Clintons of the world on the entire gaming culture, especially as more bored myspace ho-bags migrate over. Its a neat concept, but its sucking in all the worst kinds of people for all the wrong reasons.

My derision at this game has nothing to do with a lack of social skills or imagination, I assure you. I get the same kind of disgust every time I see some goth fags playing Vampire Larp. Someone with actual imagination would be doing something more creative than coding virtual bongs and penises. Someone with social skills would be out hitting the real thing instead of preying on weak minded jail bait (possible mangina) sluts for virtual hooch. At the bare minimum, I would at least down some porn with what I knew were real women in it, if I were that desperate for the furry action. If the majority of people were doing what Kwon (or even Cid) are, I would have no problem with it. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what kind of crowd this game is mainly drawing, even just looking at your screenshots.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.

Jice! Who were in you in-game and did i ever play that card game with you? :D

There are some fun games in SL as well Jice!

I found this card game where you could attack high, med, low, block do combos etc

And i told the dev of that game some suggestions! More intricate combos, bleed attacks, blind attacks, stuns etc

It's fun! Try it out!

See, if 90% of the people playing were like you like yourself, then it would be fine. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the way most are embracing this thing.

Who cares what EVERY person is doing in a game? Take a look at the real world? Are you interested in 90 percent of the people there or do you seek out the ones that match your interests? It's no different in a game.

Are you sexually repressed or something? You seem a little over sensitive to people expressing themselves in any way other than physical contact.

I've done nothing in a game that I'm ashamed of. If I popped a champagn bottle and shoved it up Kwons ass in SL, I still wouldn't be ashamed of it. Dude, lighten up and enjoy yourself instead of worrying about what's acceptable. As it happens, many people have extremely active imaginations and that includes wanting to do things using their minds that they have absolutely no desire to do in real life. You like shooting people in FPS games? It's fun but you aren't going to do it in real life. It's the same with sexual situations. Like it or not, the imagination blows away reality nine times out of ten. As another example, I love documentaries that take me into the heart of a jungle or on a safari but I have no desire whatsoever to actually do those things in real life (bugs, smells, travelling, hassles that I don't want to deal with) It's a personal choice.

If you're overly concerned with my sex life, I can assure you I've had plenty of your standard couple sex in real life, unless only the missionary position is acceptable to you then I'm shit out of luck. Happy now? Mind if I go fuck a furry for fun in a game that may or may not be a 300 pound man like you in real life or is it going to bother you? I'm taking a wild guess that I've had sex with more women in real life than you. Get with the program! Why should it matter to you what I choose to do (as long as its legal)? If I can out earn you, out sex you, jump higher, and post a higher IQ than you in real life, is it OK if I have my fun online? Is there some test I was supposed to take? If a 90 year old lady can roleplay something that I find interesting in a game, that's fine by me.

Why do you think people are always "preying" on someone else in a game? Ever think that some just enjoy expressing themselves with no strings attached? Probably not. That little orc would look better with a green hat than yellow I think.

In online games I play, imagination is all I'm looking for from the other players.

I must be a social misfit! The people from fan faire can tell you that.

Just wondering if you've actually played it. It seems all your assumptions about it are simply based on this thread and the screenshots therein.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say there's probably not cyber-orgies on every corner.

I have run across the occasional "sex-club" in-game. I have also run across "churches" as well. The game is far from a virtual orgy, and nowhere near the entire population is involved in that type of activity. It is all based on where you go and what you look for. Personally, I have been spending my time looking through the various things people have created. Some of them are amazing considering that they were entirely created by the players using the game-designer's scripting/building tools.

I installed it and tried it out for about 30 minutes.

The thing just wasn't fun imo. I just didn't see a point to the game(if it can be called that) other than it being a glorified chat room/cyber lounge filled with wannabe artists "doin their own thang".

Although I admit flying was fun for the first 5 minutes, there was absolutly nothing there to hold my interest.

Yep, it's not for everyone! It's also not a game that you're going to get a lot out of in 30 minutes. Good luck with your next game.

Fun night in SL!

Our own Spaghetti Noodle had his first live DJing event in the most popular dance club in the game for a few hours tonight. I totally forgot to ask him to give a shout out to VVers during one of his interludes.

Now that's something you can't do in other games. Pasta Boy did a great job and sounded like an old DJ pro. Nice selection of music!

While that was going on, Les Vega has won his second fishing tourney trophey. (no cyber was involved in this event!) grats 2X$500L.

Meanwhile, in other news, Jice painted a_little_metal_orc_078.

This is an unauthorized picture of Cid's pad. I really need to get over there and take a few good shots. It puts my place to shame (Cid not fully rez'd in the pic):

Image

An example of a cool avatar you can make yourself if you have the talent. Nice dragon:

Image

I found an avatar for Nick! You can play now!

Image

Not sure what was going on here but I informed them that people like Jice disapprove of these shenanigans and that they should stop and play normals games immediately:

Image

Interesting outfit...even more interesting to watch her try to walk around in it!

Image

Long nights = need fo shades the next day

Finally, for Jice, is this humiliating enough for you? Thank you ma'am may I have another!

Bashing someone's hobby in an effort to promote your own. Classy.

Pulling off stuff like below is much more impressive than texturing a pair of tits or scripting a virtual fishing pond in a videogame.

Oh, and since SL are down, and EQ raid time isnt for hours, ill go and play a real game, time for some GTA so i can learn to shoot some cops and steal cars instead of socialicing :)

Oh, and for the love of God, dont tell Jack Thompson about this game, thatll give him a heart attack for sure :)

SL is what you make of it.

Engine has potential!

Especially since you can do so many things with it.

For example the card game, there is a similar game where you get different menus instead of the cards when wielding/equipping a certain weapon.

Every attack has a nice animation + effects and it works similar to the card game.

Block High, Mid, Low etc

You could make decent fighting games using the SL engine! :)

I recommend Jice to try it out!

The freebie places have 70-100 weapons bundled for $1 if you want to try a few out first.

I was shooting a watermelon gun around my apartment the other day. IT made me want to play the old arcade game Food Fight.

In all honesty, this fucking game is as close as we've gotten to the cyberspace envisioned by William Gibson.
"There is at least as much need to curb the cruel greed and arrogance of part of the world of capital, to curb the cruel greed and violence of part of the world of labor, as to check a cruel and unhealthy militarism in international relationships." -Theodore Roosevelt

Lol, why use weapons? No use really, all you can do are bother people and push people around.

The only time i seen a weapon used was some idiot trying to attack a place i was hanging out, but the security system bonked him away, and since one of owners are member of some bodyguard group, 4 people showed up to get him a way a moment after, but he ported out.

I am first and foremost talking about the duels, where you have hitpoints and can be defeated! :D

The scripted weaponry with menus and nice blood effects where you can block high, mid, low etc.

Just push people around?

Try the rocketlaunchers, now those can knockback people far away from the zone! :D

Or why not imprison them? Draw them to you with Scorpions Grappling Hook?

Possibilites are endless! I also found a Doom-Arena style of combatzone.

Yeah, some areas have "hit points" enabled. You will see an icon on the top bar that looks like a Heart with a % of hp's remaining. These are not always "combat-related" areas though. Some clubs have them enabled in the area in and around them. I am guessing it is for when brawls break out inside. :p

I've noticed that I don't seem to have enough time to explore. This game easily sucks up your time. It can take some time initially in SL to go through the process of learning the UI (which is intuitive but still lots of things to play around with beyond the basics), shaping your avatar and then tracking down a decent skin and hair, etc, shopping around for a few outfits, searching for a place to live or decide to build your own, setting up your residence and then diving into the world of scripts, poseballs, animations, etc. All fun stuff and you do discover new zones along the way.

The landmark system which works like bookmarks in a browser is outstanding but you've got to stay on top of them or you end up with a ton of them uncategorized. Thankfully the FIND/Search engine in the game is excellent.

I need to set aside some time to check out specialty zones. This is a game where you could easily blow it off if you don't take your time in the turorial and help zones and then take the time to explore a little instead of end up at a shopping mall dancing for money. The same person could either hate or love the game depending on where they randomly teleport the first few times in the game.

Played around with some oddball stuff tonight.

I like this idea. Having a bad day? Create an animated cloud that follows you around and rains on you:

I know this is an anything goes game but do people have no pride? How can you follow around someone dressed that bad? Sheesh!

A few more picts but I forget to take them too often these days.

I had a conversation with this lady for several minutes. She thought she was a cat. All she wanted was a ball of string:

Image

The Elf Clan is the sworn enemy of D'Veeshan. Since there is no lore in SL, I made that up to create intrigue!

Image

Who's this "trollop"? It's Lali!

Only room on the raft for one!

For comic book fans, I though this lady looked just like Starfire:

Still fun and still worth a look for those that haven't.
