EQ2 Expansion 2 : Kingdom of Sky

Post by Animalor »

http://everquest2.station.sony.com/expa ... gdomofsky/

Here's a rundown of the features that they have in this announcment site.
High above the mightiest peaks of Norrath a secret world exists. This Overrealm, made up of enormous islands of land suspended in the air, is home to aviaks and creatures never-before seen, but it is the splintered and warring dragons who rule it.

Higher level advancement - now reach level 70 as an adventurer or artisan

All-new Achievement system to further specialize your character’s abilities

Guild advancement expanded to level 50

Four new arena champions and two new arenas

All new Heritage Quests allow players to gain amazingly powerful items, personal status, adventure experience and even a reward made famous in the original EverQuest or EverQuest Online Adventures!

Signature Quests which reward large experience bonuses, personal status, entirely new items, and advance the lore of EverQuest II!

Brand new pieces of armor, such as Profession Hats, Helmets and Pauldrons, will make your character look more distinct!
Seems to me that whereas Blizzard is taking entirely way too much time to release stuff, Sony seems to be pumping out this stuff entirely way too fast.

Can't we just get something balanced like the release schedule of Pre-PoP EQ1

I thought sony had planned to release an expansion every 6 months and an adventure pack every 3ish months in between.

Then the adventure pack bombed and they decided to just do expansions. 6 months per is about the rate that they were cranking them out in EQ, right?

I hadn't realised that DOF came out last Spetember. Thought it was a lot later than that.

Just about 5 months between DoF and KoS is they stick to the late Feb date.

Content is good.

The super-casual players bitching loudly about never being able to catch up, and I say super-casual since the hardcore made 60 within a couple weeks of the cap being raised and the casual could get there in 3 months.

The funny part is they always claim cap-raising content is for "the top 10% of players" when if you're a median player you find that most of the people are in the same zones; ie I'd say easily 75% of EQ2 is 55-60 right now, (at least 75% of the people on-line at any given time) and there's 2 months until the expansion is released....

While this expansion sounds literally like EQ1's PoAir and PoSky (which I hated), I still like the main idea behind this expansion.

I'll take awkwardly floating island in the sky versus green moon aliens any day.

That one screenshot looks eactly like PoSky.. taj mahal-like buildings, gorgons, big chains! WHAR IS TEH BIXIE!

Seriously tho, cool stuff. Props to them for getting content out faster than WoW. I can't really say if its good content tho, but at least they're trying.

I think the PoF stuff was great content... except for the faction farming shit.

My guess is that it is in fact PoSky, because there's no way in hell they could pull it off as a completely unique zone.

That's the difference between WoW and EQ2 - EQ2 has content sort of layed out before them already from EQ1. They can take already made zones and just recreate them to the standards of EQ2. That being said, Blizzard has lots of lore and 3 Warcraft games to use, but it's just not the same.

This explains why it's much easier for Sony to pump out the expansions, but by no means is Blizzard 'on track' for getting an expansion out. They're about 6 months late at this point.

Oh the memories. Good times back then.

Rangers eating death touches. It pleased me to no end seeing Elderan corpses pile up... that stupid whiney little fuck.

Interesting tidbit if you're planning on getting into EQ2 for the first time.

Retail, over the counter Kingdon of Sky will come in DVD format only and will include the original EQ2 game.

All of this for 29.99..
