Post by Sylvus »

So I have this problem where I like to pay for subscriptions to games for months and months after I'm not playing them anymore. Activity in this forum just reminded me to go cancel my account (thank goodness, I was about to be charged again in a little over a week) and the cancel process is kind of humorous. Not only can you select such reasons for cancelling from a drop-down list as "Will of the Forsaken nerf", but it actually begs you to stay, up to and including the following text and image.
If you choose to deactivate your subscription‚ you will still be able to play until your currently paid for time expires on January 16, 2006 3:09 AM PST. The peon is full-on weeping now. We hope you're happy. Are you positive you want to deactivate your subscription?

Quitting is so 3 months ago. Quitting, coming back, and then quitting again, now that's hot.

Dude, I've quit and come back like 3 times. This is just the second time I've cancelled, and they've improved the process since then.

Oh Holstoy, I remember pestering you for hours about how herbalism works within like 5 minutes of logging on for the first time.

Boxer: where to find bloodweeds?????
Boxer: i found a dot on map but the dots gone now????????
Boxer: how do i do it???????
Boxer: hello?? hello?
Holstoy: uh.. hey, Brahman picks flowers- you should ask him
Boxer: what???? how do i do it??
Holstoy is AFK: Flossing my toes

I'm still paying for my EverQuest account. I dont even remember my account info or I'd go see if Adela is still flopping around.

The thing that's making that guy really sad is that you didnt give your account information to Boxer after all of those good times we had together.
I TOLD YOU ID SHOOT! BUT YOU DIDNT BELIEVE ME! WHY DIDNT YOU BELIEVE ME?

Try cancelling EQ2. The fucking thing made me answer like an unskippable 90 question survey about why I'm quitting, and tried to retain me about twelve times without ever actually offering anything to retain me.

The one time I had the urge to come back for a look, the sign up server was down.

Figured that was a sign

Well this is fun, Blizzard dinged my card on Monday to recur my subscription, even though I'd cancelled, so I immediately emailed their billing department disputing the charges. They responded by saying I needed to call, and I've now been on hold or talking to clueless idiots for the last 20 minutes. I haven't even logged onto the game in months, it shouldn't be this difficult for them to reverse the charges on my card.

Apparently, you didn't cancel ENOUGH.

Still on the phone (I'm well over a half-hour now), but they are reversing the charges. Apparently in order to do that, they have to lock the account until which time that it would have normally recurred again, so even if I want to come back I can't until April. The horror!

Pfft. Every time I try to come back, either some ridiculous RL issue pops up, or something else equally retarded. I go through spells of really missing it, though. The kicker these days is mostly that I only know like 5 people in the ol' guild.

What's DDO like? It looks interesting.

Looks can be deceiving. Think LDoN without the N. That's the best way for me to surmise it. If you want to pay 15$ a month for dungeons that are just random doorways throughout the city (and yes, some very compartmentalized outdoor zones you "travel" to), then go right ahead. Combat is a little more twitchy than I'd have liked.

I hope not! I cancelled last month as well, but have not looked at my statement. ><

I do miss Ixtlan though. <3 I had thought about starting the account back up, but it would only be to play Seckscao. :) PC still can't hang with anything more than Onyxia....MC was a clusterfuck.

Maybe down the line when I get a new pc...should be something cool out there...

For now, XBOX 360 ftw.

Yeah, I haven't logged on Lane since August and I still haven't cancelled my account. I might later if I ever get bored with procrastinating.
