Nash, Richards, Gaborik.

Should be an unstoppable line. They gave up nothing to get him which was amazing. Unfortunately, the Rangers just can't buy a Stanley Cup.

The Rangers are where careers go to die. They managed to buy a Cup in '94 (thus killing the memorable derisive chant of "1940" that could be heard in various venues they visited) but really, aside from being a major market, they are almost a joke as a franchise.

Nash has scored a lot of pretty goals in his time with Columbus but he hasn't shown the ability to lead a team to the next level. I'll grant that he didn't have much to work with but at times his effort has left people questioning his desire. His attitude and skill set may not mesh well with John Tortorella's coaching style, which hasn't gotten the best out of Gaborik either.

Honestly, I think Shea Weber's signing the offer sheet with the Flyers was a potentially bigger story but the Predators deflated it a bit by matching it.
