Share a custom playlist

Post by Winnow »

I mentioned Grooveshark in another recent thread. It's easy to play songs of your choice. Easy to upload songs if you want to add to their collection, and easy to make playlists.

http://grooveshark.com/

I thought it might be nice for VVers to create playlists they think others might enjoy and share them here. You don't have to register but it's free and easy if you want to.

I created a playlist for miir here:

http://grooveshark.com/playlist/Summer+Gayness/54745290

Just select "Play All" after it loads and you're ready to go!

I wanted to get your summer off to a great start! No way you can get through it without getting your boogie shoes on!

For something less "light", tryout this playlist.

I had posted it on one of my old blog websites but I doubt many saw it.

This is a playlist from a CD put together by a comic writer/artist that he used to "Kick Start" his creativity:

http://grooveshark.com/playlist/Dogwitch/54749261

-click "play all" after loading page.

He explains the songs and reasoning here:

May not be your kind of music but it's an interesting selection.

The comic series Dogwitch is one of my favorite Indy comics. I posted it awhile back but don't think anyone read it.

I'll link to my new art gallery site I've been working on to show some of his artwork. To be fair, the comic is great because of the writing that goes along with the art so this doesn't tell you much. Trippy comic though! Click on the picture to head to the gallery.

The site is still in beta. I'm going for an extreme minimalist look. Even the small menu can be hidden, leaving most of the page dedicated to the art.

One warning about grooveshark.
Create backups of your playlist.
If you try to save a playlist, there is a chance that the save won't complete.
The way grooveshark saves work, is that it deletes the old version, and updates with the new version the user submits. If this process doesn't complete, you may end up with only the deleted version. It's happened to me on more than one occasion. That could be because it's not uncommon for me to have a shitty connection at work, but...just a warning to anyone else...

This is my 'questing' playlist. It's not ordered; I always listen to it on random.

And a 'raiding' playlist, though I don't always listen to music while raiding.
I'm still working out the order on this, especially near the end.

Reddit has a lot of good playlists.
These aren't mine, but they are some good ones:

Wow, that quest playlist is huge : )

Thanks for the warning on the playlists.

Some of you may recall (I doubt it) that I ripped the songs from the original Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball Xbox game.

I thought it was an excellent soundtrack for what it was (summer fluff/reggae music) and a lot of the songs aren't easy to find on their own. You can't get this sountrack in stores!

http://grooveshark.com/#/album/Doax+Soundtrack/6347325

Some of my favorites

Nee - Bitchism
Nee - Turn it Up
Reel Big Fish - I Want Your Girlfriend (censored version)
Bahaman - Move it Like This
Big Mountain - Sweet and Deadly

Image

I actually uploaded this to Grooveshark. It's a pretty easy process. One thing though, if you don't upload album art, you can't add it later so all these songs have the generic record icon. I also may not have tagged them right back when I originally ripped them! Title has the Artist and Song while the Artists lists DoAX. Can't modify after uploading. Something they should allow!

Prince may be a whack job these days and anti internet but there's no denying he wrote good music.

I put together some of his dirtier songs together in a playlist. Therese aren't his best song. I'm no Prince super fan so don' t know all of his works. I'm sure there's plenty more dirty songs (well all of them) and am open to suggestions to add.

Pussy Control
Erotic City
Little Red Corvette
Darling Nikki
Lady Cab Driver
Gett Off
Hot Thing

Listen here: select "play all"

http://grooveshark.com/#/playlist/Princ ... x/55912791

I used to boogie (drunk) to Erotic City out on the dance floors! Little Red Corvette is great for its slightly masked erotic theme, plus just being a damn good song. Darling Nikki is raw nasty.

Lady Cab Driver is 8+ minute long. For the first quarter he's singing to the cab driver and then he bangs her the next quarter, the rest of the song is mostly instrumental. I like how the song is so mellow just bopping along and then he starts cranking out his political stances while banging the cab driver.

Good song. I think it should have been shortened to about 5 mins. Prince writes powerful songs. That little guy put everything he had into them!

That song was even better 30 years ago.
DMSR is still my favorite song from that album.

I just can't listen to Prince anymore. I heard/played too many of his songs while working at a 70's & 80's themed club...

I definitely have/had Prince burnout. My favorite Prince song is "Let's Go Crazy". Great lyrics and guitar solo at the end.
So when u call up that shrink in Beverly Hills
You know the one - Dr Everything'll Be Alright
Instead of asking him how much of your time is left
Ask him how much of your mind, baby

'Cuz in this life
Things are much harder than in the afterworld
In this life
You're on your own

And if de-elevator tries to bring you down
Go crazy - punch a higher floor

---

We're all excited
But we don't know why
Maybe it's because
We're all gonna die

And when we do
What's it all for
You better live now
Before the grim reaper comes knocking on your door

Whenever I think of Prince, it reminds me of Vanity 6, Nasty Girl:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvDh1zHLAjU

Check this really bad video of Vanity before she got all religious:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsfE-VsxmbE

and then there's the classy Sheila E, The Glamorous Live

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeJLZi0uyJw

Check out more poor video quality of Sheila E performing A Love Bizarre:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-VZ1WSu-5Y

Great song. Nice drum solo at the end by Sheila. She's no Neil Peart but not bad. hehe

And if you're still with me on this post, here's Darling Nikki from the movie:

You gotta be the coolest MoFo on the planet if you can have a perm, wear ruffles and make-up with high heels and the woman fall at your feet!
That's the first and last time I ever want to see a man humping a speaker.

...ok, I'm all Princed out for now.

I haven't listened to anything new from Prince in.. Probably 15 years. I still think he's a great guitar player. Mostly underrated by the average music listener imo.
Prince wrote: "The Internet's completely over. I don't see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won't pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can't get it... Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can't be good for you."
He's a vegetarian so maybe he's not getting his essential vitamins and minerals and it's making him crazy.
Gwyneth Paltrow will be returning to the show set at Mckinnley High as Holly Holiday, where she covered Cee Lo's"Forget You" to rave reviews. She will be teaming with Matthew Morrison to perform "Kiss" by Prince as a duet.

We hear it has been filmed and is set to air March 8th. We have been hearing for a while about "Glee" wanting to do an all Prince episode and were surprised clearance was given for "Kiss"...but it turns out....it wasn't.

Prince's people contacted us about the song being used on Glee and we were given this statement;

"The planned performance of Prince's "Kiss" on Glee is NOT approved by anyone in Prince's official camp."
Well.. Not totally crazy. I don't blame him for not wanting his song done on that crappy show! I guess he lost that battle.
