Ack! spoilers! I fell asleep again halfway through episode 4 (not kidding, although I watch late at night so it's not entirely the show's fault). The Imp was fine before I fell asleep!Aslanna wrote:Poor Imp!

Not too much of a spoiler.. But you probably shouldn't read an active thread about a show until you're current!

Re: ASoiaF - Game of Thrones - HBO -- Official News!
I thought this episode was an improvement.
Re: ASoiaF - Game of Thrones - HBO -- Official News!
I don't agree on Lena. She's not hawt enough. I thought she was supposed to be irresistibly hawt. She is pretty, and not hawt. I feel like I could get her at a bar, that's how not super hawt she is. I'm still waiting for there to be smoking hot chicks in the show. There just aren't any cast, I don't think. Just lots of pretty ladies, and that's fine This is not a complaint, just my observational opinion. (Damnit, Cane, why are me and you disagreeing so much in this thread? except of course on GRRM's skill)
And this episode definitely sped things up. Its amazing how fast those people travel It almost feels rushed to me. I can understand why it wouldn't to others though. The end of the episode is really when book 1 starts moving, so the rest of the episodes should be fairly exciting in nature due to the brisk pacing that is set.

I didn't notice things speeding up this episode. Was it the fast running joust horses?
ASoiaF needs more Imp-bell!
Without reading the books, my guess is that the accusations against shorty are a misunderstanding or he was setup.
I will quit watching if the imp dies!

Re: ASoiaF - Game of Thrones - HBO -- Official News!
*shrug* to each their own.
Hottest chick so far is slave girl that nancy-boy Viserys roughed up last episode.
And Winnow, what Kluden means is that where the episode ended is basically where the book begins to gain momentum. It is just a translation to screen that makes everything seem like it happened much faster since there is much "filler" not represented (which is probably a good thing!).
I thought E4 was solid. There are still only a few characters that don't quite 'feel' right since of course, I pictured them different while reading.
Sandor (Hound) Clegane: Jury still out, but he hasn't had much dialogue so far. I hear good things about Rory McCann though (Yarp?)
Gregor (The Mountain that rides) Clegane: Face didn't look right, and it was hard to tell if he is a huge due to being on horseback. Also, his face looked odd
Renly Baratheon: I dunno, I always pictured him as John Cleese (as Robin Hood) from Time Bandits....
Otherwise, the cast is spot-on, or close enough! Quite frankly, I don't give a shit if the gals are super-hot or not--that is what other shows are for!

Yeah, what's up with Renly? He don't look like no jolly ladies man to me! The dude who plays Jaimie is ridiculously good though. I'll give him that.
The cleganes are nothing like what I expected. but we'll see if it works. Joffrey is perfect though. that little kid clearly read the books, and understood his character. Same with the dude playing Viserys. Both are exactly what I read them as.
But yes, Winnow, the Imp is one of the best characters, no doubt. He never stops being perfect, in his imperfect form.

Re: ASoiaF - Game of Thrones - HBO -- Official News!
I'm still not thrilled with the wild horsefolk storyline. The blonde lady's character development has been too rapid, obvious, and cliche. It's not really the actress's fault-- she's stuck with lines like "I am a kalisi of the dothraki" while staring straight ahead (all spellings my fault). Her brother is a bit better, though. And, other than the whore and the other white dude, there are literally no other characters involved in that storyline at this point. Khal Drogo is not a character at this point; he's a ridiculous caricature.
I will say, though, that I find blonde horse queen lady to be really hot, although her sex scenes are kind of repellent.
I like what's his name, the royal with the funny mustache who's hanging out with Ned these days.
And I like pretty much the entire Lannister family, despite the incest. They're charming.
The Stark kids, by contrast, are kind of grating.

Peter "Littlefinger" Baelish would be Ned's new pal. Minor Lord that sits on the small council. Yes, the actor is doing a brilliant job with him!
As for Daenerys(sp) (blond horse chick): She is doing what she can with the script. That is just how it is. It seems to work better in the novel since SHE is TWELVE! So, that would be impressive! In fact, all of the kids are much younger, but that obviously can't happen on the screen--especially the young Dany...
Rob Stark & Jon Snow: 15
Sansa Stark: 13 or 14
Arya stark: 10 or 12? (So she is accurate)
Bran Stark: 10 or 12? (see above)
Rikkon stark: 4 or 6 (not sure if he has been on)
Theon Greyjoy: 17
Joffrey Baratheon: 14
Blah blah blah
I think the kids are doing a good job, it's just that it seemed to work better for some of them as younger kids, especially Daenerys.

Imp is the show. He's worth all the other characters combined.
Sawyer is tougher than I thought as well. I thought he might be a puss but fights well.

Re: ASoiaF - Game of Thrones - HBO -- Official News!
I've been Imp-pimping since the beginning!
I liked episode 6 more then 7.
Tyrion still makes the show what it is. His confession was excellent. So far, his is the only name I remember of the entire cast.
I'm still put off by the entire savage kubla khan stuff. It probably translates better in book form. On screen it looks canned. Glad to see that one guy go with the gold crown. He was pretty one sided. Characters become lame if not multifaceted.
It's still not a great show but there are flashes that keep me watching.
Favorite lines:
Retarded Queen Lady: "You do not fight with honor"
Imp''s Champion: "No, but he did" (referring to the dead guy)

Re: ASoiaF - Game of Thrones - HBO -- Official News!
Bronn is the Imp's champ, Winnow. You will like his character very much as well with Tyrion. Both are so great in the book.
The book does a much better job with Viserys (the golden crown boy), makes him way more despicable, IMO. The show just made him annoying. Both are grounds for death of course
As for the kahn stuff, it doesn't really transfer better in the books. Its basically Klingon's on horseback.

Definitely picking up the pace, and starting to get it's hooks in me. However, I won't be happy with this show until every single Lannister (aside from the midget) is dead. I hope Joffrey dies a absolutely miserable, gruesome, and extremely slow death. Then, I'll love this show!

GRRM's livejournal mentioned that while he wrote episode 8, he didn't write the mountain clan scenes. Those were filmed for episodes 7 and pushed into 8 during editing.
He mentioned that he's currently working on the screenplay for Season 2 Episode 9 (or 8?): "Blackwater". I can't wait to see that translated to the screen!
