Equilibrium

Post by Anuin »

For those of you who have not seen this movie yet, I highly reccomend going out and renting it. In a nutshell its a cross between 1984 (The book), and the Matrix. Needless to say, it kicks some serious ass.

5 FUCKING STARS. I just got finished watching this. This is not just an excellent action flick--it is a great social commentary as well. Bale was simply fantastic!

There are four Equilibrium threads but I chose this one!

Excellent movie. Sure it's based heavily on the 1984 political setting and includes gunplay along with hand to hand combat so is instantly accused of being a Matrix clone but this one stands above the pack as a movie worth seeing.

91/100 in the bleak future category

It's a good script, and well produced, but Bale stopped this being mediocre due to the shitty supporting cast. 8/10.

8/10
I loved it, but I think it lacked action in the early half of the movie.
[Show]
You have the insurgents holed up in that room in the begining, and the 9 guards in the nether. Thats all the action for the first half of the movie. The second half has plenty of action, but in too short of segments. I think having Preston's partner fight him in the begining would of solved this problem. The only real cleric vs cleric fight is Presten fighting the real father. (cant remember the characters name) He fought an cleric before him but it lasted 4 fucking (but awesomely cool) seconds.
Interesting Note from imdb.com message board.
Dont know if its true, but 236 people die on screen in this movie. This explains why they use black dust instead of blood spurts :) Imagine the ratings carnage if they used blood.

I saw this a couple years ago and I only caught a few parts while I was making dinner and didn't really enjoy it, then I watched it again and actually payed attention and I loved it. Now Christian Bale is one of my favorite actors. Excellent movie, amazing action scenes.

This movie is a much better use of your time than either of the Matrix sequels. If Batman Begins had come out before this, it would have been a huge hit. Everyone knows Bale is the man now.

I knew he "was the man" way back when I saw Equilibrium. That's why I was so fucking glad when they picked him for Batman. I knew he would make a bad ass batman. If they had only picked him for The Matrix, the series could have been better :)

I'm not quite sure better acting could have done all that much for the second two.
