Microsoft getting chummy with Adware company Claria

Last week there was rumor of possible aquisition of Claria by MS and now the MS Antispyware rating for all Claria apps has been reduced from Threat to Moderate and the Default action for the software is "Ignore".
Antispyware will still detect when it attempts to install and give you the big Allow/Remove options but if it is already installed, their recommendation is leave it there.

Frankly I see this as a huge blow to Microsoft's credibility in the PC security field.

That's pretty lame.

I'm dumping their MS's Antispy app. I already only used it once a month for a scan. The active stuff slows stuff down.

I don't like using protection. My computer doesn't feel right with it on. I'm pretty good at picking out sites that are healthy and fresh, using them, and then moving on before they have a chance to corrupt. The only way I'd use a questionable site is if I use their backdoor to prevent any chance of getting stuck with new mini viruses.

hehehe, I read that as a sexual reference, and it fit all too well.

I plan on dumping the microsoft application as well, but I will probably use the one it is supposed to be based on. You get the same protections, plus the additional items which the developer puts out. I cannot remember the site for their beta of the same thing, but it is a version of Counterspy I believe.
