John Edwards, what's your take on this presidential candidat

Post by Fash »

He recently made a little blunder, intentional or not (?) by insinuating he had read the classified NIE report released before the invasion of iraq. Recently it was also said that John Kerry was stunned by Edwards when interviewing him for the VP ticket; He had told Kerry an sad story of inspiration about his sons death, saying he had never told anyone before, but he had told the same story to Kerry 2 years prior. This all makes me wonder what you think about him, since we usually disagree on these matters.

This sort of poll needs the multi response option enabled! More than one answer may apply! Someone may <3 Edwards and also want to vote for him.

I like Edwards. I supported him during the primary in '04, but could not get behind the Kerry/Edwards ticket, and so I voted for Nader, mainly as a protest vote since it was a foregone conclusion that Bush would carry my state. I've been an early supporter of him this time around, and have been thinking of doing some volunteer work for his campaign as things begin to heat up around here later this year. Lately, my level of support for him is wavering slightly, however. It's nothing to do with Edwards, but I find myself more intrigued with Obama as I learn more about him.

Regarding a lot of the recent scuttlebutt that's been bandied about amongst the right-wing talking heads and pundits, I'm unimpressed by it. The impetus for much of it is Robert Shrum's new book No Excuses: Concessions of a Serial Campaigner. Shrum is a Democratic consultant / political analyst that has a strong track record of getting his clients NOT elected. While I'm sure that there's some degree of truth behind his version of things, I'll take his account of things with a healthy portion of NaCl, if you don't mind. I hope he expects his retirement from political life to be permanent, because with the bridges he's burning in this book, I don't see how he can expect to get back into the good graces of the Democratic party. Overall, I rate the latest hoopla right up there with the $400 hair cut / beauty shop goofiness. Yes, it's a little silly to spend 400 bucks on a hair cut, but having a good stylist come to you isn't going to be cheap. As silly as it is, the way it was overblown by his political opposition was even sillier, and the latest Shrub-inspired talking points are much the same.

That edit blew away the poll.

yeah, I mentioned in my first poll in general forums that editing polls wipes out the poll. Hope that gets fixed eventually in an update!
