Choosing a turntable

Post by Siji »

So I'm getting a desire to get a decent turntable and moving back to vinyl for some of my music selection and apparently there's a lot to know about a good turntable. I don't want a top of the line one where I need to measure the millimeters between anything or scientific computations of vibration and needle angle, etc. I want something that's going to sound good, last a bit (needle replacement doesn't bother me, whole parts replacement repeatedly would) and doesn't damage any records I get.

For the basics I'm pretty sure I want a belt driven one with a manual arm. Anything else I should know? Any model suggestions? I'm looking to stay at a couple hundred or thereabouts (or less).
