American Sniper

Post by Winnow »

I listened to the audiobook of this several months back and enjoyed it so was looking forward to seeing the movie.

The Audiobook was pretty good and the Clint Eastwood directed movie turned out well.

The story is about a Navy Seal credited with 160+ sniper kills. The most in American history. It's not a gung ho movie for the most part. The book did have a little more of that in it than the movie. Craig Kyle (the sniper) is well portrayed by Bradley Cooper. It deals with him having to cope with killing a few kids and women as well as his life back in the States.

As with most movies, a ton was left out of the movie that was in the book that would have fleshed out the main character. At times you're left with a bunch of sniper kills without much of the background behind each of them.

While the book may lean a little too far to the patriotic side of things for some, the movie focuses on the human aspect of things. At Age 84, Clint Eastwood is still making very good movies.

7.9/10
